Distinctive Parking has been selected to manage parking operations for One Shell Square in New Orleans, a 51-story office building designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. The tallest building in the city and state, it is primarily leasable office space, with retail space on the ground level. The parking operations consist of 825 marked parking spaces for the sole purpose of a tenant/public self-parking garage operation.

ABM Parking Services/Ampco System Parking was recently awarded a multiyear contract for operations of the City of Rockford, IL, parking system, to include management, enforcement and collections – with approximately 38 surface lots, 4 garages and 3,500 parking meters, altogether comprising 7,879 parking spaces. This is city’s first privatization of its parking system.
Standard Parking Corp. has announced various contract awards received following the merger of Standard Parking and Central Parking in October 2012. The contracts involve properties across the United States and include awards to various SP Plus service lines and end markets, as well as to the company’s Central Parking subsidiary. SP Plus Office Services was awarded the management of the parking operations at nine office buildings across the country for Piedmont Real Estate Investment Trust. The City of Scranton, PA, awarded SP Plus Municipal Services a new on-street meter collection and enforcement contract. It also was selected by the City of Oxford, MS, to provide on-street meter enforcement and citations in the downtown area. Finfrock has signed design-build contracts for two new garages in Florida. Parking for the 4th Avenue South Residences in St. Petersburg will be designed, manufactured and constructed by the company. The project will provide 624 stalls in 5.2 levels for a new multi-unit residential complex. Also, 468 parking spaces will be designed, manufactured and constructed for SkyHouse Orlando, a new high-rise residential complex being built in downtown Orlando.

At AppsWorld North America 2013, CreditCall CEO Peter Turner joined other payment industry executives in February in San Francisco to discuss mobile commerce and market opportunities and challenges for mobile payment acceptance apps. The mobile payments track included two panels involving representatives from Verizon, MasterCard, Intuit and PayPal.
Digital Payment Technologies has completed a successful trial of its multi-space parking paystations at Portland (OR) State University. The deployment tested technologies such as pay-by-license plate and extend-by-phone features, which were so successful that they will be extended to additional campus lots and garages. The university also experienced a reduction in pass-back of parking receipts, which created a positive impact on revenue. In addition, thanks to increased customer compliance, the university has seen a significant drop in citations, making the deployment a win-win for both the university and consumers.
Walker Parking Consultants has named Robert E. Stanley, P.E., as Managing Principal of its Denver office. He will oversee all Walker projects in the Denver, Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City areas. He replaces Larry Hofmockel, P.E., a fixture of the Denver-area parking industry, who is refocusing his efforts on international business development and project management.
Park New Haven, which maintains and manages more than 8,000 public parking spots across seven garages and numerous surface facilities in Downtown New Haven, CT, has announced the retirement of long-time Executive Director William E. Kilpatrick, and the appointment of David B. Panagore as its Interim Executive Director. Kilpatrick had been with the authority since 1987, serving on the Board of Directors as Commissioner, Treasurer and eventually Chairman. He was named Executive Director of Park New Haven in July 1994 and served 20 years in that role.
