The Women in Parking group, founded a year ago in Pittsburgh, met at the Parking Industry Exhibition and among other things took the moment to honor PT Editor John Van Horn for his service and support in the founding of the Organization.
In this photo, Colleen Niese, Organization President, and Ruth Beaman, Executive Director, present John Van Horn with the award.
Niese and Beaman said that Van Horn was instrumental in assisting the women in founding the organization and has been supportive in providing publicity and in kind support over the past year.
Van Horn noted that he “simply provided a space, invited the women to come to a meeting, and then got out of the way.”
Nearly 70 women met at the reception held at PIE 2012 in Chicago in late March. Beaman reported that the fledgling organization has over 50 members and has launched its new web site www.womeninparking.com.
